Second phase of Budget Session of Odisha Assembly would commence from Today

Bhubaneswar: The second phase of the Budget Session of the State Legislative Assembly would commence on Wednesday and continue till May 5.

According to the Assembly calendar, the Appropriation Bill of the full Annual Budget 2018 would be passed on April 30 following Demands for Grants discussions to begin on Thursday.

Like the first phase, the second phase is likely to be stormy as Opposition Congress and BJP have decided to take on the State Government on various issues. “Detailed deliberation regarding departmental allocation of funds as well as other important issues including the Mahanadi dispute would take place,” said Government Chief Whip Amar Prasad Satpathy.

“Among many issues, we will raise the matters of Government failing to provide drinking water to people and the deteriorating law and order situation in the State,” said Opposition leader Narasingha Mihsra. Similarly, BJP’s Rabi Narayan Nayak said his party would raise many issues, including health, education and women security. On the other hand, the ruling party BJD said it would raise the issue of Mahanadi.
