Save the Children in collaboration with Odisha RtE Forum is organised State level Convention of State SMCs

Bhubaneswar: Today, Save the Children in collaboration with Odisha RtE Forum is organised a State level Convention of State SMCs on 29th March, 2018 at Hotel Presidency, Bhubaneswar, to strengthen the School Management Committee (SMC) Federation in the state. Since, performance of the schools depends upon the active involvement of SMC, Save the Children and Odisha RTE Forum is organising this meeting with the following Objectives:
§ To enhance the capacity and skill of civil society personnel and SMC members for better understanding and developing clarity on RtE and SMC
§ To sharing of best practices and exchange experiences
§ To initiate advocacy and Lobby for better implementation of RtE and Grievance Redressal
§ To form a State Level SMC Federation
This workshop was a follow-up to the 2-day state level convention that was organised by Odisha RtE Forum during 21st & 22nd December, 2018. In view of this, Odisha RtE Forum in collaboration with Save the Children is organising a “Capacity Building Programme for members of SMC Federation” on 29th March 2018 at Hotel Presidency from 10 am-4:30 pm. Mr. Anubhav Patanaik, Hon. Member of Legislative Member was the Chief Guest at this meeting .
More than 90 participants consisting of SMC members, Government representatives, Educationist, representatives from NGO and IGNOs, consultants across the state participated in the programme. This programme was being organised to strengthen the SMC federation and discuss the next plan of action. The SMC members were oriented on different thematic aspects like Right to Education and Functioning of SMCs, 14th Finance Commission, Leadership Skills. There was also discussion on the Mo School Campaign. Honourable Chief Guest, Mr. Anubhav Patnaik, shared about his constituency, where Khandapada has been declared as the Child Friendly Constituency. He briefly shred about the programme. He also said that, programmes like this should be organised so that the SMCs gets motivated and united to ensure the Rights of the children of the State. At the end, Mr. Avijeet Bhadra from Save the Children and Mr. Anil Pradhan, from RtE Forum facilitated the meeting for preparing the next Plan of Action of the federation and Way forward from the Federation meting
