Bhubaneswar: Residents of Landmark Phase-II, an apartment complex near Sundarpada on the Jatni-Sundarpada Road, celebrated 70th Republic Day yesterday with great enthusiasm and patriotic spirit.
Noted fredom fighter Bhabani Charan Patnaik joined as the chief guest and hoisted the Tricolour. He also gave an inspiring speech and said how the freedom fighters were instrumental in getting the freedom through a lot of courage, sacrifice and selflessness and for that we are now leading a comfortable life.
Reciting a poem written by noted freedom fighter Utkalmani Pandit Gopabandhu Dash, Patnaik added that the young generation should also be inspired by the sacrifices of the great leaders of the pre-Independence era and try to serve the Motherland in such a matching spirit.
The residents of the Landmark Phase-II Apartment Complex also organised a cultural programme by reciting patriotic songs by the ladies group. Children and all other residents were also present.
Among others, president of the Resident Welfare Association DP Mishra, secretary Soumendra Pattanaik, cultural secretary Bandita Pattanaik and leading members of the body were present. Patriotic songs in Hindi, Odia and Bengali were recited by the cultural group constituted by the women members.
