Bhubaneswar: Biju Janata Dal (BJD) MLA from Angul Rajanikant Singh was unanimously elected as the Deputy Speaker of the 16th Odisha Legislative Assembly on Thursday.
Leader of the House and Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik proposed Singh’s name for the post and the proposal was supported by Parliamentary Affairs Minister Bikram Keshari Aarukha. The Opposition did not field a rival candidate obviously due to the BJD’s unassailable majority in the legislature.
