Provision of Rs 1000 cr to compensate for loss of crops: Madhya Pradesh CM

 

Bhopal : Chief Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan said that now farmers need not worry about any type of natural calamity. State government is making a provision of a fund of Rs 1000 crore to compensate for the loss of farmers’ produce. The Chief Minister said this at the Prime Minister’s Crop Insurance Scheme certificate distribution ceremony organized at Guna. Crop insurance fund certificates worth Rs 212 crores were distributed to 65,000 farmers. The Chief Minister laid the foundation of construction works worth Rs 251.31 crores in Guna on the occasion and also distributed debentures of beneficiary-oriented schemes.

Chief Minister Shri Chouhan reminded the farmers that the state government is committed to double the income of farmers for which resources are being made available for farmers. Madhya Pradesh is one such state where farmers are given loans for farming without interest. The state government is now making such an arrangement that if there is a fall in the market price of any produce of the farmers, then the produce will be purchased on support price. The amount of support price will be directly deposited in the accounts of farmers. He said that pattas will be given to the people without houses/land to construct houses. Apart from pattas to the homeless, the state government will grant funds for construction of toilets.

CM Shri Chouhan said on the occasion that Rs 2 lakhs will be given to poor category sick persons for treatment from the State Illness Assistance Fund. If the amount from this fund does not suffice for the treatment, additional fund will be made available through Mukhya Mantri Swechchanudan Nidhi. He said that if any person dies during farming work, the dependants will be provided financial aid of Rs 4 lakhs. The Chief Minister issued instructions to provide loans from banks to Women Self-help Groups to make them self-reliant. He urged people to resolve to maintain cleanliness in the villages and the cities and to resolve to plant saplings.

Newly-constructed combined office building dedicated

Chief Minister Shri Chouhan dedicated a newly-constructed combined office building at Guna the construction cost of which is Rs 2,040 lakhs. He inspected the building. Minister for Higher Education and District in Charge Shri Jaibhan Singh Pawaiya, Farmer Welfare and Agriculture Development Minister Shri Gaurishankar Bisen, Rajya Sabha MP Shri Prabhat Jha, MLA Shri Pannalal Shakhya, MLA Smt. Mamta Meena, MLA Shri Mahendra Singh Sisodia, District Panchayat Member Smt. Archana Chouhan, public representatives, senior officials were present on the occasion.
