PNG Minister Dharmendra Pradhan seeks intervention of Foreign Minister Sushama Swaraj to free Odia youths from Oman

Report by Odisha Diary bureau, New Delhi: Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan seeks intervention of Foreign Minister Sushama Swaraj to free Odia youths from Oman . On this regard Minister Pradhan writes letter to Foreign Minister Sushama Swaraj.
“As per report of local newspapers, I have come to know that five Odia youth labourers are trapped in Oman. They are Shri Dilip Sahu, Papu Singh, Manas Nayak and Sarat Palei from the Balugaon and Krishna Prasad area of District-Khurda, Odisha. These labourers had contacted Shri Anil Swain for an overseas job by paying an amount of Rs.70,000/- per head. Shri Swain had assured them a job with better salary package. They were at first taken to Kerala, were enrolled under M/s Planet Consultancy and from there were taken to Oman. In Oman, they were forced to work in sub- human conditions. After two months, when request for their salary /wages, was made to the agency, they were brutally tortured, beaten and were kept under house arrest. These youths now feel cheated and duped. At once they reported the matter to their family members, who tried to contact the local authorities for immediate repatriation. However, fill date a positive affirmation is awaited,” said Minister Pradhan in his letter addressed to Foreign Minister Sushama Swaraj.
Minister Dharmendra Pradhan requested Foreign Minister Sushama Swaraj to personally intervene in the matter and to take up the matter with the concerned officials for early repatriation of these innocent youths of Odisha on humanitarian grounds and also ensure that these poor youths are paid their dues by the company which enrolled them.
