PNG Minister Dharmendra Pradhan called for greater emphasis on ethanol blending & setting up of 2nd generation bio ethanol refineries

‪Bhubaneswar: Petroleum Natural Gas Minister Dharmendra Pradhan chaired a high-level meeting of CMDs of OMCs to discuss the status of initial progress of twelve 2-G Ethanol Bio-Refineries in 11 states. Last week Prime Minister, after the ministerial review of MoPNG, called for greater emphasis on ethanol blending & setting up of 2nd generation bio ethanol refineries. Going ahead we expect large-scale participation from Private Sector in setting up 2-G bio ethanol refineries across the nation.
Minister Pradhan also today chaired the meeting of Working Group on Petrochemical. The working group gave a detailed presentation on Petrochemical Scenario in India.‬
India’s per capita consumption of petrochemical is 9.5 kg against global average of 35 kg. There is a need to enhance domestic capacity to meet growing domestic demand.
