Sambalpur: Mahanadi Coalfields Limited (MCL), an Odisha-based subsidiary of Coal India Limited, has entered villages to educate people about cleanliness as a way to progress, through an Odia street play “Pragati Pathe” stages in the outskirts of Burla town in Dhankuda block of district Sambalpur.
Observing a cleanliness fortnight since 16th of June, the company has focused on outskirting areas of small towns in its command area to create awareness among people on clean and pollution-free environment for a healthy life.
A street play in local ‘Sambalpuri’ dialect has been scripted by Dr (Prof) Samar Mudali and being performed by the artists of Sambalpur Universty’s performing arts department. The play touches vitals issues of swachhta in story-telling way with a ruler of a fictitious kingdom passing dictates on cleanliness for ensuring well-being of his state subjects.
“It was really entertaining and thought provoking play presented by MCL and we are thankful for organising such an informative play,” said Mr. Sankar Pradhan a resident of village Gaoun Burla who watched the play.
A large number of women folk and Children, turned up to watch the play as it was organised at 7 pm yesterday. “It was a very nice play and we will also contribute for swachhta in our village” said Smt Chamarayan Seth after the street play.
