Bhubaneswar: Parichay Foundation is all set to organise the second edition of Kiah Fashion show, one of its signature events, dedicated to raise funds for a cause. This year, the foundation, into its 10th year, is proud to announce that the fashion show is being organised with acid attack survivors who are coming all the way from the very popular Sheroes Café in Agra and Lucknow, managed by Delhi-based Chhanv Foundation.
Chhanv Foundation has been working towards providing sustenance and shelter to acid attack survivors.
The funds raised for the event will be spent towards the second phase of Alaknanda Scholarship Project, meant for girls dropping out of schools across urban slums of Odisha. The programme was launched last year on November 14 as a flagship project of Parichay on the occasion of the first edition of Kiah Fashion Show, wherein slum girls adopted by Parichay had walked the ramp.
The Alaknanda Scholarship Programme identifies girls/ladies who have dropped out of school for financial constraints but have an interest and inclination to pursue their education and stand on their own feet. The foundation helps them complete their matriculation, to begin with, by enrolling them under the National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS). Besides taking care of their admission and examination fees, the foundation also takes up the responsibility of employing teachers and volunteers for taking regular classes exclusively for the girls in a rented study centre for the entire year.
While the first batch of 59 girls from Kalyanpur panchayat have already appeared their exams and awaiting the results, the foundation has identified another 60 girls from the same region for the second phase.
Meanwhile, Parichay is obliged to all those who have come forward to support the cause and walk the ramp with the acid attack survivors. The list includes eminent women and men personalities of Odisha including legendary actor Bijay Mohanty, Prof Annapurna Pandey, University of California, USA (Anthropology), social activist and Director, ISD, Subhashree Das, state convenor, National Youth Project Madhusudan Das, Mx. Meera Parida, Chairman All Odisha Third Gender Welfare Trust and Little Miss Universe 2017 Padmalaya Nanda.
“I am really grateful to all acid attack survivors who have come forward for this beautiful cause for second edition of Kiah Fashion Show. This is our signature event to raise funds for the Alaknanda Scholarship Programme which is meant exclusively for drop out girl students. Girl education is our priority and I want our well-wishers to help us take this cause forward,” says Rosalin Patsani Mishra, founder member of Parichay Foundation.
That apart, eminent actress from Bollywood Tisca Chopra will be the star attraction in the event.
Parichay is also grateful to all sponsors and partners, who are supporting the event. Ruchi and Frozit as our gold sponsor; Milk Mantra, IMFA, Kingston, Epari and SJ Developers, our silver sponsors; Rustic Hue, our fashion partner, Head Turners, Chandrasekharpur, our grooming partner, Red FM 93.5 as our Radio partner, My City Links as magazine partner and Addiction for fashion choreography. The entire event is being managed by Prelude.
Established on November 27, 2007, Parichay Foundation has been silently taking small steps to create a difference in the lives of women and children in slum areas, providing them value education, better medical facilities and most important, a platform to prove their abilities and empower themselves. The foundation has been felicitated by the President of India and recognised by the United Nations for its outstanding work.
