Parichay Foundation organised the sixth edition of ‘Parampara’ celebrating guru-shishya tradition to commemorate Teacher’s Day


New Delhi: Parichay Foundation on Friday organised the sixth edition of ‘Parampara’ celebrating the guru-shishya tradition to commemorate Teacher’s Day at Satya Sai Auditorium, Lodhi Road New Delhi.

The foundation, which has been engaged in bringing about economic and social upliftment for underprivileged in urban and rural slums of Odisha and Delhi, particularly working towards women empowerment and welfare, has also been consistently making efforts to promote Indian art and culture.

This year’s Parampara award was conferred on Padma Shri Guru Geeta Chandran and her daughter Sharanya who has been taking forward the legacy of her mother. The foundation also felicitated eminent achievers from different fields for their contributions to the society including Nibedita (playback singer and Odissi dancer), Ritwik Das (Entreprenuer and CEO and MD of Bluchip Projects), Bimohan Parhi (Social Worker who runs Manovikas), Arti Bhaduria (Founder member Bharatvikas Parishad), Rajshree Kumar (social worker and Vice President, Srijana Lioness Club of South Delhi), Winky Singh (Famous designer with Ministry of Design), Sunanda Parija (Utkalini Group Founder member), Nidhi Kumar (trustee of prestigious NetajiSubhash Bose – INA Trust), Deben Ray (Humanitarian and Managing Director of ODI-RAY Industries Limited) and Debendra Nath Rout ( Social innovator, Founder Chairman of The Intellects and National convenor of Harijan Sevak Sangh).

Chief General Manager, SBI, Delhi Circle was also felicitated on the occasion.

In sync with its objective to preserve Indian art and culture, ‘Parampara’ gave a befitting tribute to the age-old teacher-disciple tradition by showcasing a beautiful performance between flutist Digvijaysinh Chauhan, a disciple of Padma Vibhushan Guru Hariprasad Chaurasia Ji along with Ustad Rashid Mustafa, a renowned tabla player. Although Pandit Hariprasad Chaurasia graced the event, he could not perform due to his ailing health.

It was followed by story narration TARA which has been penned by Paramita Satpathy and narration would be by Mamata Dixit. Gotipua dance performance by Swatishree Gotipua Dance group from Raghurajpur Village, Odisha was presented.

Similarly, Megha Pallav, an Odissi dance recital was presented by Regina from China followed by Bharatnatyam recital by Suvin Prasad with introduction by Santosh James Mahadeva Shiva Shambo, a Bharatnatyam Keerthanam.

Chief Guest Manoj Tiwari, BJP MP, actor and singer appreciated the programme, congratulated all awardees and also encouraged the Parichay family to touch more lives with their good work in the field of women and child empowerment.

While paying tributes to her guru, her parents, Founder President, Parichay Foundation Rosalin Patsani Mishra thanked everyone for the grand success of the event and assured that the foundation will continue to work hard to bring about a difference in the lives of people.

Other eminent guests who graced the occasion included His Excellency, Daniel Chuburu, Ambassador of Argentina, His Excellency Dr. Ahmed Albanna, UAE Ambassador, Dr. Arpan Mitra, President of Bengal National Chamber of Commerce and Industries (BNCCI) and the Honorary Consul General, Republic of Burundi in Kolkata, former MP Dr. Prasanna Kumar Patsani, Chairperson, Odisha State Housing Board, Priyadarshi Mishra, eminent Odissi dancer Padmashri Geeta Mahalik, writer and Commissioner, Income Tax Paramita Satpathy and Executive member and Parichay Ludhiana Chapter in charge Rupashi Wadhwan.
