Odisha’s Jitendra Mishra elected as Board of Directors for the 62 years old World’s biggest children & youth media network: CIFEJ

New Delhi: Film producer, promoter & Festival Director of the film festival SIFFCY, Smile Foundation has been elected as the Director on the board of CIFEJ (International Centre of Films for Children and Young People). The election was held today during the ongoing General Assembly meeting in the International children’s film festival, India. Members from more than 40 countries participated in the voting procedure to choose the 8 members Board of Directors including the president.

Established in 1955 under the auspices of UNESCO , CIFEJ is active as the only global network of audio-visual media professionals working for children and young people. CIFEJ’s main goal has been to promote production of films and audio-visual media that are culturally diverse, artistic, educational, informative, and at the same time entertaining; especially designed for children and young people.

Jitendra Mishra is one of the few Indian film producers & promoters who have been able to create a benchmark in ‘Alternative method of Film Production, Distribution & Promotion’ at international level. Committed. He has already been associated with the production, distribution and promotion of more than 110 films in all categories. Many of them have got worldwide acclamation and recognition. He has been invited as Jury and panelist to many international films festival & forums. He has also been member of the prestigious Cannes Producers Network for many years.

SIFFCY , is a special film platform initiated by the leading development organization Smile Foundation directly supporting over 4,00,000 children and their families, through 200 welfare projects on education, healthcare, livelihood and woman empowerment, in more than 950 remote villages and slums across 25 states of India. The core objective of SIFFCY is to entertain, engage, educate and empower young minds through meaningful films & film related workshop, held in New Delhi, India every year during December and then travels to various parts of the country reaching out to maximum children & youth through good cinema. The chairperson of the festival is Mr Santanu Mishra, who is the co-founder & executive trustee of Smile Foundation.

We at SIFFCY & Smile Foundation have been sensitizing & empowering young people though various film making workshops and good cinema. CIFEJ is indeed the oldest and biggest movement started for the same cause. We got the membership just last year and we are proud to be on the Board of Directors just in one year, our presence on the board will definitely support children content from India to get a wider reach at international platform, and bring international collaborations opportunities for Indian projects, says Jitendra on this occasion.

The other directors on the board elected are Dragan Milinkovic from Serbia, Ema Pendiuc from Romania, Josep Arbiol from Spain, Selven Naidu from Mauritius, Vassilis Karamitsanis from Greece, Volodymyr Diagilev from Ukrain & Dr. Shravan Kumar, CEO of Children’s film society India as the president who is the first Indian to be elected for this position.
