Bhubaneswar: As a matter of pride and honour for the State of Odisha the contingent from the State were crowned champions in the National level Sports meet Hausla-2019
organised by the Ministry of Women & child Welfare, Govt. of India from 19th
to 21st December, 2019 held at Rastriya Janasahajog and Balvikash Sanstan.
Putting up a stellar performance at the National meet the team from Odisha won
14 Gold, 12 Silver and 4 Bronze medals across all categories. The State of
Chhattisgarh finished second in the competition. Eminent Cricketer and Member
of Parliament Goutam Gambhir gave away the prize to the winning teams in
presence of Rabindra Pawar, Secretary (MWCD), Ajay Tirkey, Special Secretary
(MWCD) and Astha Saxena, Joint Secretary (MWCD).
It is noteworthy of mentioning that the State level Sports meet Hausla2019 was organised on 1st and 2nd of December, which saw participation of
inmates residing across 240 Child Care Institutions across Odisha. Out of which
39 boys and girls were selected to represent the State at the National level Meet.
It is pertinent to note that these children of CCIs have been provided due support and guidance by the W&CD and Mission Shakti Department, Govt. of Odisha.
These children belonging to the economically and socially backward strata of
society have been provided a platform to showcase their talent due to the constant nurturing and nourishment provided by the State Govt in W&CD and MS
Department. Department Minister Smt. Tukuni Sahu and Principal Secretary Smt.
Anu Garg have congratulated the winning team on their outstanding
achievement. The team will return to Odisha tomorrow and will be received by
the Department officials at Biju Patnaik International Airport.
Odisha bagged a total of 30 medals: 14 gold ,12 Silver and 4 Bronze.
Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik congratulated children of #Odisha’s Child Care Institutions on becoming national champion yet again in interstate competition, #Hausla2019 by winning 30 medals (14 Gold, 12 Silver, 4 Bronze). CM said the kids are pride of Odisha and wished them best for future.
