Odisha witnessed revenue collection increased by 22%, also increase in utilisation of Budgetary-allocated funds

Bhubaneswar: The State witnessed increase in revenue collection has increased by around 22 per cent with Rs 27,894 collected during the period against Rs 22,895 crore collected last year. Own Tax revenue grew by around 27 per cent with Rs 21,959 crore collected.

The nontax revenue grew by around 7 per cent with total collection of Rs 5,934 crore. The revenue collection from mining increased to the tune of around Rs 4,698 crore, thereby showing a growth of around 37 per cent over the corresponding period of the last year.

 

The State witnessed increase in utilisation of Budgetary-allocated funds on different schemes and programmes and in revenue generation as well by end of January during the current fiscal, 2017-18.

This was revealed at the all Secretaries’ meeting held by Chief Secretary AP Padhi here on Tuesday. Padhi directed all departments to ensure 100 per cent utilisation of funds.

An overall increase of around 8 per cent in total budget utilization was marked by end of January over the corresponding period of the last financial year. Total programme expenditure up to January, 2018 stood at Rs 36, 756 crore against the last year’s Rs 34, 014 crore.

In social sector, Rs 16, 685 crore has been spent this year till January-end, which is 16 per cent more that the last corresponding period’s Rs 14,425 crore.

Similarly, expenditure in agriculture and allied sectors stood at Rs 8,486 crore which is around 0.15% more than the expenditure of the corresponding period of last year.

The spending in building and infrastructure stood at Rs 9,015.25 crore, which is 8.06 per cent more than the amount spent during the corresponding period of the last year.
