Odisha: Two tiffin bomb defused in Raighar Maoist-hit block of Nabarangpur district

Report by Basant Rath, Nabarangpur: Two tiffin bomb found in the Maoist-hit-Sarguli area of Raighar Maoist hit block of Nabarangpur district on Sunday evening.

According reports a local youth while passing through the road noticed two suspected bombs laying on the roadside at Saraguli village. He informed the local police, who rushed to the spot and cordoned off the area. BSF with bomb disposed squad was called at the spot. A bomb disposal squad arrived at the spot on Monday morning and took the two bombs to a secluded place and defused the bombs. While the Raighar police have started an investigation to know who and under what circumstance left the bombs there, the explosives, suspected to have been planted by Maoists, from neighbouring Chattisghar border area.

With the recovery of the bombs from the Raighar area, police suspected frequent movements of the Maoists in the area. Following the incident, the security personnel also have intensified police a search operation in the area suspecting presence of the Maoists in the locality.

Notably on 24th September 2011, Maoist gunned down the Umerkote legislator of the rulings BJD, Jagabandhu Majhi, and his personal security officer Prasant Kumar Patro, at Gona in a public meeting. Earlier Maoist blew up Kundei police station in Raighar block on 15th July 2010.
