Odisha Twitterati Remember India’s Youngest Martyr Baji Rout on His Birth Anniversary

Bhubaneswar: (Avilash Panigrahi) Remembering the ultimate sacrifice of boat boy and child martyr Baji Rout (Bajia), Odia Netizens took to Twitter to pay homage to the braveheart on his birth anniversary.

Born on October 5, 1926, in Nilakanthpur in Dhenkanal, Baji Rout was a member of Banar Sena (Children Wing) of the Prajamandal Andolan. He was killed by the British for defying their orders by not ferrying them across Brahmani River on October 11, 1938.

Internationally acclaimed sand artist Sudarsan Pattnaik paid tributes to the great Baji Rout on the freedom fighter’s birth anniversary.

The artist shared a picture of one of his murals portraying the image of Baji Rout. Describing the young boy to be one of the greatest freedom heroes, Pattnaik stated that “his story of courage, selflessness, and valour needs to be known to every child.”
