Odisha to develop Talsari beach as tourist spot

Bhubaneswar: The Talsari beach of Balasore district will be developed as a beach tourism destination. A proposal in this regard was discussed at a high level meeting chaired by Chief Secretary Aditya Prasad Padhi on Tuesday.
Chief Secretary Padhi advised concerned officials to prepare a detail project proposal with financial outlay for approval of the government. He also asked district officers to identify around 50 acre land for development of the project and initiate other preliminary steps.
Talsari beach with its calm ambiance, unique receding waters and tropical weather has the potential of a becoming a major beach destination. Currently, thousands of visitors mainly from Digha are visiting Talsari, Udaypur and Bichitrapur. Daily footfall to Talasari has increased from 146704 in 2012 to 193789 in 2014.
Infrastructural works like development of pathway, water sports facilities, a foot over bridge 300 mt long over the creek to connect the main land to Subarna beach, renovation of fishery jetty, tourist reception centre, food court etc have been proposed for development of the project. The initial investment has been estimated at Rs 4302 crore.
