Odisha: SUM hospital to set up Covid hospital in Kendrapada, 260-bed Covid hospital Jajpur to function soon

Bhubaneswar: Chief Secretary Asit Tripathy and Secretary to CM and 5T Secretary V Karthikeyan Pandian on Wednesday visited the Chhata-based Government polytechnic college here, where a Covid hospital will be set up.

They directed district Collector Samarth Verma to complete the hospital within five days and make it functional at the earliest. A tripartite arrangement has been made between the district administration, Sum Hospital and MCL for setting up the Covid hospital with a capacity of 100 beds.

While the MCL has funded for the hospital, the SUM hospital would be the managing institution, said Verma. Kendrapada SP Niti Sekhar, Sub-Collector Jyoti Shankar Mohapatra, R&B Executive Engineer and other senior officials were present.

Notably, the district administration has set up a 260-bed district isolation ward facility at the polytechnic college for the Covid-19 suspects. Tripathy and Pandian also visited Kalingabagar in Jajpur district and inspected the site for establishment of a Covid hospital there.
