Bhubaneswar: Odisha Government to submit ll the documents related to Geographical Indication (GI)tag for Rasagola by August 21. This was informed by the MSME Minister Prafulla Samal .
MSME Minister Prafulla Samal said, “The GI Registry officials in June gave us one month time to provide data on 14 different aspects, but the State Government has sought time till August 21.”
“But we hope to submit the documents by early August,” added Samal.
The GI Registry officials, in June, had asked the Odisha Government to submit all the documents related to the matter. However, the State Government is yet to submit the necessary data to prove that the famous sweet originated in Odisha and is being served as offering in the Shree Jagannath Temple in Puri for centuries.
Meanwhile Rasagola Dibasa was celebrated across Odisha on Wednesday with much fanfare. Acclaimed sand artist Sudarsan Pattnaik made a sculpture at the Puri sea beach to mark the Rasagola Dibasa.
