Report by Badal Tah; Rayagada: A joint action by Rayagada health department along with police have seized huge amount of oil pouches, plastic cans, huge tin oil containers illegally hoarded by M/s Durga Sri Packers in Goutam Nagar area of Rayagada town. The farm is registered with Office of CDMO, Rayagada under Health & Family Welfare Department and supposed to do processing & packaging of ready to serve fruit beverages/ mango drinks with a brand name called Mangi Magic in packets and pet bottles. The food license certificate with No-12019027000030 was issued under FSS Act-2006 & Rules, Regulations-2011 by Food Safety & Standard Authority of India(FSSAI), which is situated in CDMO’s office.
Getting a tip off, the food safety officer alongwith police raided the factory which was packing spurious edible oil and sending to different parts of the district and outside. Police has detained one Mr.T Durga Prasad in the context of this heinous work. The oil samples have been handed over to the health department to verify the percentage of toxicity.
