Odisha Skills 2019 Launched

 

Bhubaneswar: Odisha Skill Development Authority (OSDA) today launched Odisha Skills 2019 in Bhubaneswar. The event was inaugurated by Smt. Usha Devi, Minister of Skill Development & Technical Education in the august presence of Sri Subroto Bagchi, Chairman, OSDA, Vice Chancellor, Utkal University, Prof. S N Pattnaik, Commissioner-cum-Secretary, Sri Sanjay Kumar Singh and Director, IIT, Bhubaneswar, Dr. R. V. Raj Kumar.
Minister of SD&TE, Smt. Usha Devi said, “Govt. is committed to promote quality skill development in the state and provide opportunity to the youths for competing at the world level. She expressed her happiness while sharing the recently concluded achievement of Odisha skill winners in India Skills 2018 competition.”
Shri Subroto Bagchi, Chairman, Odisha Skill Development Authority (OSDA) said, “Current year OSDA has targeted for one lakh registration in Odisha Skills 2019 competition. The initiative will help us identify the best talent who could represent India at the World Skills International Competition and bring laurels to the country.”
Whereas Commissioner-cum-Secretary, SD&TE, Sri Singh spoke, “ Odisha is the only state who has started preparation for coming 2021 World Skills Competition. He also added that the State Govt. has been selected for ‘APJ Abdul Kalam Award 2018’ for skill development in the state.
Two MoUs were signed on this occasion for promotion of skill development. The online registration for Odisha Skills 2019 has started today and the last date of registration is 31st May 2019.
Odisha Skills will showcase 45 skills ranging from Construction and Building Technology, Creative Arts and Fashion, Information and Communication Technology, Manufacturing and Engineering Technology, Social and Personal Care and Transportation and Logistics. The winners from these competitions will compete at Regional Competition, where they would compete with winners from other regional state competitions to compete at National Competition.
On this occasion, the valedictory ceremony of Poly & ITI Fest-2019 was also held where all the winners of various events were being felicitated during the inauguration of Odisha Skills 2019 competition.

Among others CEO, OSDA-cum-Director, Employment, Sri Rajesh Prabhakar Patil, Director, DTE&T, Sri Balwant Singh, Additional Secretary, Sudarshan Panda and Joint secretary, Ajay Nayak were also there.
