Report by Odisha Diary bureau, Keonjhar: Odisha Skill Development Authority Chairman Mr.Subroto Bagchi & Collector of Keonjhar Mr.N. Thirumala Naik are seen in the picture traveling in Keonjhar town in an auto driven by a self employed female auto driver Santoshi. She is a pioneer in this field and by far the only female driver in the city.
Mr.Bagchi praised Santoshi as the ambassador & icon of new Odisha and her women. He assured to provide all possible assistance and support for her personal and professional development.
As per information Santoshi who was married to Haryana based Rohit Das Sharma was meted out severe physical and mental torture by her in-laws and husband after she got a baby girl some five years back. When she could bear no more, she finally came over to her ancestral home in Keonjhar and settled. But with severe financial problems hovering over them, she chose to open up a snacks shop but as it could not suffice her needs she took help from SHGs and brought an auto-rickshaw which she has been running to keep her old mother and her daughter happy and financially stable.
When she narrated her story of struggle and sacrifice to the collector, he introduced her to SDA Chairman who was visiting the district and both had a tour like never before.
Commenting on her experience Santoshi says it was a memorable day for her.
