Odisha to set the Keynote of United Nations’ Disaster Resilience Week at Bangkok

Bhubaneswar : After having international applaud for setting benchmarks in disaster management during the last years, now Odisha has been invited to deliver the keynote address of United Nations’ Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific ( ESCAP) Disaster Resilience Week scheduled to be held at Bangkok from 26th to 28th August, 2019. Commission-cum-Secretary to Government and Managing Director OSDMA Sri Bishnupada Sethi has been invited to deliver the keynote address of this prestigious international event . Sri Sethi will light upon how Governments in Asia and pacific region can further cooperation in improving the disaster management systems. Replying to a media query today, Sri Sethi said, “the success that State has achieved is not the work of a day or month but of continuous endeavor over 20 years”. He added, “disaster resilience can be built through ‘empowerment’, ‘inclusion’, ‘shared understanding’ and ‘joint strategic action plan’ among the nations in Asia Pacific region”. Sri Sethi will deliver the key note address at Bangkok on Moday, 26 Aug, 2019. With this Odisha will have another foot print in disaster management at Global level.
