Odisha: Sanaghagara tourist spot needs service road on NH49

Report by Malaya Mohapatra; Kendujhar: Sanaghagara Water fall in Keonjhar is a prominent tourist spot of Odisha besides NH49 visited by lakhs of tourist from different parts of India. There is heavy rush for picnic at this eco spot during the winter particularly around new year.

Recently the 4 laning of the NH 49 is going on in full swing for which traffic congestion is faced by tourists visiting the spot. Apart from that the dust from the NH has polluted the tourist area damaging the gardens and trees. But the dangerous part is that the connecting road opens to the busy NH-49 directly making it the most accident prone spot in the district. With thousands of vehicles coming to sanaghagara daily, there is a necessity of a service road for safety of tourists and the NH authorites should look into it, many tourists alleged.

The Progressive citizens forum has demanded daily sprinkling of water on the road, immediate construction of a service road at Sanaghagara and completion of the service road at the intersection of NH49 and NH 215 bypass road so that there can be safe traffic, Dhirendra Rout, President Progressive Citizens forum said. It’s a genuine demand and I will bring to the notice of the authorities, Local MLA Mohan Majhi admitted.
