Odisha ruling BJD protest against hike of petroleum prices, held responsible Minister Dharmendra Pradhan

Bhubaneswar: Biju Yuva Janata Dal (BYJD) and Biju Chhatra Janata Dal (BCJD) members on Monday took to the street here to protest against the hike of petrol and diesel prices.

They first congregated at Rajmahal Square and came in a huge procession led by MLA Sanjay Dasburma to Master Canteen Square and held a demonstration.

Dasburma lashed out at Union Petroleum Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, saying that the rate at which fuel prices are rising, it is sure that prices of essential commodities would also increase. For this, the Central Government and the Petroleum Minister would be held responsible.

Bhubaneswar, petrol now costs Rs 72.56 and diesel Rs 64.22. While the prices of crude oil is presently 40 dollars per barrel in the international market, the Central Government instead of decreasing the fuel prices is trying to earn more revenue by increasing the Excise Duty on petroleum products said the party leaders during the protest.
