Odisha: Post cyclone restoration works in Jagatsinghpur district unsatisfactory viewed at DLCNC meeting

Report by Kahnu Nanda; Jagatsinghpur: The District Level Committee on Natural Calamities [DLCNC] was held in collector office Sadbhabana Sabhagruha here on Thursday, participating in the meeting district MLAs and MP including minister Raghunadan Das were viewed that the post Fani cyclone restoration works underway in Jagatsinghpur district unsatisfactory.
Speaking at the meeting minister Das informed that the cyclone Fani has devastated Jagatsinghpur district, but the pace of restoration works forthwith post cyclone proceeding slow, the damage assessment by revenue officials have reportedly found flaws, victims in some areas after passing of one month have unable getting electricity, drinking water and basic needs, house damage compensation yet to be distributed so minister Das instructed administration to expedite the restoration works and prepare a flawless cyclone victims list.
MP Rajashree Mallick participating in the calamities meeting stressed improvement of canal water supply to farmers, MLA Prasanta Muduli put emphasis developing rainwater discharge system in coastal blocks before rainy season. Tirtol MLA Bishnu Das demanded supplying polythin sheet to each cyclone victim. Paradip legislator Sambit Routray speaking on the occasion demanded strengthening left embankment of River Mahanadi and functional of defunct lift irrigation points in district.
DLCNC chairman cum collector Guha Poonam Tapas Kumar replying at the meeting informed that the post cyclone restoration works are progressing smoothly in accordance with relief code and instruction from state government, if any discrepancy noticed reporting irregularities promote action would be taken against the errant official, she assured. Moreover collector discussed the pre monsoon arrangements by civil administration with regard to facing any calamities in coming days.
On the flip side the meeting was delayed about two hours due to non-arrival of minister Das, MLAs and MP those were pre occupied in another function later the meeting was being started at 12.30 PM by collector after half an hour minister, MLAs and MP joined the meeting.
