Odisha police succeeds in nabbing sixteen dreaded dacoits in Rayagada

Report by Badal Tah; Rayagada: Coordinated efforts by Tikiri, Kashipur, Doraguda and Chandili police stations of Rayagada district have made it possible to nab a gang of sixteen dreaded dacoits and confiscated a bolero, seven motor bikes, a country made pistol, nine cell phones, choppers, knives, crowbars/iron rods/screw divers/hammers, towels used as masks, number of dresses worn by the accused during commissioning the crime. Twenty grams of gold was also recovered from the gang.

A gang of eleven dacoits on 2nd August midnight assembled at Masuripadara ground of Tikiri in order to commit dacoity in the house of Sri Pabitra Naik of Tikiri. Getting this information Tikiri police could apprehend all the members of the gang except two. A case was registered vide-Tikiri PS case no-65 dated 3-8-18 u/s 399/402 IPC, r/w 25 Arms Act. Upon interrogation the accused persons confessed that they had also done burglary recently at Sunger SBI related to Kashipur PS case no-64 dated 15-7-18 u/s 457/380/427/511 IPC and Gadiseskhal SBI related to Chandili PS case no-78 dated 16-7-18 u/s 457/380/511 IPC , but could not succeed in looting cash.

On 11-7-2018 at about 8.30 PM, a gang of six persons forcibly opened the door of a person at Podapadi and on the point of knives snatched his wife’s mangal sutra weighing thirty grams and disposed the same to one T.Murali of Kumutalpeta under Chandili PS. A case was registered vide Tikiri PS case no-54 dated 11-7-18 u/s 457/395 IPC. “Three of the accused persons of the dacoit gang are still absconding and will be nabbed soon “, said Sri Rahul P R , SP, Rayagada.

All this was revealed during a press meet addressed by SP Sri Rahul and attended by Sri Y Jagannath Rao, Additional SP, Rayagada, IICs of Kashipur, Tikiri, Chandili and Rayagada. A photo retrieved from the cc camera of an ATM looted in Rayagada town was also released during press meet. The efforts of Rayagada police in the upkeep of general law and order in the district has been applauded by local denizens.
