Odisha: “Operation Muskaan” organised by Sunabeda cops in locals

Report by Nishapati Nayak, Koraput: After successful implementation of ‘Operation Smile’ sunabeda police started implementing ‘Operation Muskaan’3rd today to trace missing and destitute children and reunite them with their parents, said IIC,sunabeda mrs.jogeswari behera.

The campaign under sunabeda police station, she said that this campaign would be a continuation of the Operation Smile. The campaign would continue for future days.

The main aim of the programme was to prevent child trafficking and rescue children from persons who tried to engage them in begging, sexual trade and other antisocial activities.Under this programme, specially trained police teams would screen all children residing in shelter homes, railway platforms, bus stands, roads and religious places. They would also extract required information from these children tactfully, she noted.

This operation was traced and 7 children underage were rescued at local hotels named Green Chillies Restaurant ,NAC, Bidhan Hotel,HAL,Township,Arun Bakery,HAL ,Township,Nair Hotel,HAL,Township etc.These children were from bhadrak,ganjam,Koraput districts named master ranjan munda(15),rudra jani(15),govind sumanta(14),bulu sumanta(14,sarathi jani(14),muna gouda(14),manoj kuldip(14) etc.This operation is led by the team headed by smt.jogeswari behera(iic),mr.surya prakash naik(s.i),mr.santosh kumar patro(s.i),mr. s.n.panigrahi(s.i),mr.e.barla(s.i),mrs. J.Baral(s.i) and staffs.

Later Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) JJ Act, Protection of Child Right Act, relevant sections of Cr.PC & IPC issued by ministry of home affairs (MHA) were implemented and handed to children welfare committee.

To ensure proper provision of availability of food, clothes, medical-aid, professional translators, psychiatrists and shelter homes for rehabilitation/reintegration well before the rescue operation and to ensure that such operations are conducted in strict compliance of the existing legal provisions added mr.surya prakash naik(sub -inspector).
This” operation muskaan” is highly appreciated by locals and intellectuall masses of locality.
