Odisha: Jagannath Colliery, MCL Bags Prestigious National Safety Award

Sambalpur: Jagannath Colliery of Jagannath Area received the prestigious National Safety Award for Mines awarded by Ministry of Labour and Employment, Govt of India for consecutive two years 2013 & 2014. In a glorious function at Vigyan Bhawan, Maulana Azad Road, New Delhi, The Hon’ble President of India Sri Ram Nath Kovind handed over the awards to the winners at 12:00 hours in presence of Sri Bandaru Dattatreya, Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Labour and Employment (L&E) Govt of India. Smt M Sathiyavay, Secretary L&E, Sri. Hiralal Samariya, Dy Secretary L&E and Sri. P K Sarkar, Director General DGMS.

Seventy-One awards were selected for Coal, Metal and Oil mines covering both Public and Private sectors of India for both the years 2013 & 2014 for different categories. Jagannath colliery was the only mine selected for the prestigious awards for consecutive two years. It was a glorious moment for Jagannath Colliery and Jagannath Area in particular and Mahanadi Coalfield as a whole.

Sri. S K Choudhury, Project Officer, Sri. D K Pradhan Project Manager, Sri Sujit Biswal Workmen Inspector (Mining) and Sri Basanta Sahu, Workmen Inspector (Electrical) received the award from Hon’ble President of India on behalf of Jagannath Colliery.

A high level team of MCL Management Sri. S K Roychowdhury, General Manager (Safety & Rescue), Sri. M G Brahmapurkar General Manager Jagannath Area, Sri. Pravakar Sahu, Sr. Manager (Mining), Sri. Srinivas Ganapati Area Safety Officer Jagannath Area and Sri. S C Nayak, Safety Officer Jagannath Colliery were present at Vigyan Bhawan to share the glorious moments.
