Odisha: Incessant rains in Rayagada plays havoc

Report by Badal Tah; Rayagada, October 24: Intermittent well spread rains since last Wednesday in all parts of the district have played havoc in Rayagada. According to Sri Pramod Kumar Behera, Collector, Rayagada, the administration is alert for any untoward situation. The cyclone centres at Kalyan Singhpur, Bissam Cuttack, Gunupur, etc are equipped and if required, the people will be evacuated from low lying areas.

The rivers like Bansadhara, Nagavali, Jhanjabati, Kalyani and other local streams are in spate. The road connecting Gunupur to Srikakulam at Jagannathpur is overflowing with water from Bansadhara river resulting in a cut off situation. A massive landslide took place on Rejingtal road in Putasing GP of Gunupur block causing extreme difficulty for the commuters.

Till writing of this report, heavy rain continued in all parts of the district.
