Odisha Health minister Pratap Jena visited Nagada

Report by Akshya Rout; Jajpur : The health minister Pratap Jena visited remote Nagada village and its nearby villages under the mineral rich Sukinda block of Jajpur district on Thursday.
The minister discussed with local tribal people. Nagada hillock came into limelight after 21 Juang kids died of malnutrition last year. “ The union government should launch a special programme to develop around 50000 tribal villages on the country. Nagada will be a model tribal village in the country . It is a foolproof mechanism, learning lessons from the past. Our aim is not just handing over of land but creating model tribal villages with sustainable food self-sufficiency. The focus will be on large-scale cultivation of millets and pulses, which once kept poverty and malnutrition away from the tribal belts,” said the health minister .

Nagada would be developed as model tribal village with community living and collective farming. Houses would be constructed in demarcated areas, where there would also be anganwadis, health centres, community centres and playgrounds. The land document for each family would have detailed entries of latitude and longitude of awarded portion of the land, apart from family details and photographs. So, no alienation in future would happen, added the minister.
. The government will set up a hospital at Kaliapani We have also decided to upgrade the health- sub-center at Deogaon and the Community Health Center (CHC) at Sukinda . District Mineral Fund (DMF) will be utilized for the developmental works of the tribal people of the district said the minister..”
