Odisha Govt urged RBI for availability of sufficient cash in banks, ATM counters across State

Bhubaneswar: The State Government has urged the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) Regional Director, Bhubaneswar for availability of sufficient cash in banks and ATM counters across the State to meet exigencies.

In a letter, Finance Department Special Secretary PK Biswal said that in the wake of coronavirus outbreak, the State Government has been taking many proactive steps in preventive healthcare and social protection measures, including the establishment of isolation centres, release of old age pension in advance, payment of ex-gratia, etc. This would involve substantial disbursement from the treasuries.

Since it is a very crucial time, the public may also require a lot more cash in hand. Hence, it may be ensured that no bank branch/ATM counter goes without cash in the near future, said the letter.
