Odisha Govt to upgrade 21 High Schools into Higher Secondary schools in science stream

Bhubaneswar: Development of STs & SCs in the State has remained a matter of special concern for the State Govt.. Since education plays a very crucial role for socio-economic development of STs & SCs, the Odisha Govt. has adopted a
holistic and integrated approach for development of Scheduled Tribes & Scheduled Castes by establishing many educational institutions in the Tribal areas.

In order to cater to the need for higher education among tribal dominated areas, the ST & SC Dev. Deptt. has already upgraded 26 High Schools of Mayurbhanj, Gajapati, Kalahandi, Sambalpur, Keonjhar, Sundargarh, Rayagada, Malkangiri, Nabarangpur districts into Higher Secondary School in Science Stream till the year 2017-18.

However, for the current academic session 2018-19, the Govt. have decided to upgrade 21 more High Schools of Gajapati, Kandhamal, Sundergarh, Nabarangpur, Koraput, Rayagada, Malkangiri, Kalahandi, Mayurbhanj and Balangir districts into Higher Secondary schools in science stream keeping in view
the student strength, and infrastructure availability for running the Higher Secondary schools.

To make these upgraded schools fully functional, the ST & SC Dev. Deptt. requested the Odisha Public Service Commission for recruitment of 230 post of Post Graduate Teachers in seven subjects i.e Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Zoology, Botany, Odia and English. In the meantime, Odisha Public Service
Commission has recommended 154 candidates for appointment in these schools.

The Post Graduate Teachers will get the salary as per 7th Pay Commission. Very soon the Govt. will give appointment to 154 newly recruited Post Graduate Teachers in these upgraded Higher Secondary Schools and classes will start in this
year.
