Bhubaneswar: Odisha Govt to directs Collectors,Govt departments to take steps for creating people’s movement to use Odia. Development Commissioner R Balakrishanan on Tuesday directed district Collectors and Government departments to take steps for creating a people’s movement for writing signboards in Odia at all levels. .
Balakrishanan asked the Culture Department and Heads of Departments to ensure that all Government and corporation office and educational institutions put up signboards in Odia within two months.
He stressed that business establishments and other private organisations should be encouraged to write signboards in Odia as it would help enhance their popularity.
He asked Collectors to give reply in Odia while responding to letters sent to them in the mother tongue.
He also directed to organise book fairs in their respective districts for promotion of Odia language.
