Odisha govt constituted expert committee to study the management practices adopted by major temples

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government on Thursday constituted a three-member expert committee to study the management practices adopted by several major temples in the country following the direction of the Supreme Court.

Additional chief secretary of forest and environment department SC Mohapatra has been appointed as the chairperson of the panel. The other members are inspector general of police (Central Range) S. Priyadarshi and Mohimohan Tripathy, former administrator and present member of SJT managing committee.

The committee members will study Vaishno Devi in Jammu and Kashmir, Somnath Temple in Gujarat, Golden Temple in Punjab, Tirupati Temple in Andhra Pradesh and Dharmasthala temple in Karnataka and will suggest such changes as may be considered necessary for Jagannath Temple in Puri.

The committee is expected to submit its interim report to the state government by June 30, a circular issued by the Law Department said.
