Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today approved the long-standing demands of the Odisha Primary Teachers’ Association on the restructuring of cadre and hike in grade pay. This was informed by the School and Mass Education Minister Badri Narayan Patra on Thursday.

The State government has approved the hike in grade pay of primary school teachers to Rs 2800. The teachers will be given promotion in three categories- Level-2, Level-4 and Level-5. The state government’s move will benefit 72,563 primary school teachers as it will pave the way for promotions in their cadre.

It should be noted that the teachers’ association had demanded the restructuring of cadres and hike in grade pay during a protest on November 7 and 9 in 2017. Notably, the teachers association was on strike in the state capital since September to press for their demands.
