Bhubaneswar:Odisha Govt announces 7-day relief for flood-hit Malkangiri . Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today reviewed the flood situation in the tribal-dominated Malkangiri district and announced Gratuitous Relief for the people in the flood-affected areas for a period of seven days.
The chief minister has directed the district Collector to spend Rs 60 each for adults and Rs 45 for children below 12 years towards relief expenditure per day.
Besides, the state government has also directed the district administration officials to reach out to the flood-affected people of the district and extend all necessary assistance.
People from low lying areas were evacuated last night and kept at shelters. No persons injured or dead. Malkangiri has received very heavy rainfall in last 24 hours, two villages and colonies affected, landslide in Chitrakonda area, ANI quotes Special Relief Commissioner, Odisha.
Due to Cyclonic storm ‘Daye’ triggered heavy rain fall in Malkangiri district. Eight rivers in the district have gone into spate as water level is flowing above the danger mark. The flash flood has inundated several villages of the district.
