Odisha Govt to adopt an Excise Policy 2017-18 to regulate liquor trade

Bhubaneswar: The State Government would adopt an Excise Policy 2017-18 during the current year in a bid to regulate liquor trade in the State. This was informed by the Excise Minister Dr Damodar Rout.
Minister Rout said that as per the new policy draught beer would be sold in six major cities, including Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, Rourkela and Brahmapur, to keep youths away from consumption of hard liquor. The Minister said the liquor shops would mandatorily fix rate charts at door points and stringent action would be taken if any shop is found selling liquor more than MRPs.
Besides, model premium liquor shops would be opened at the city airport and shopping malls and there would be no liquor shops within 500 metres from the National and State highways, the Minster said.
