Odisha government under Biju Krishak Vikas Yojana to drill one lakh new boreholes in all districts

Bhubaneswar: In-depth boreholes have been instrumental in the Biju Krishak Vikas Yojana. By the end of the fiscal year 2025-24, about one lakh new boreholes will be drilled in all districts of the state to irrigate more than 500,000 hectares of farmland annually. It will have an investment of about Rs 718.18 crore.

Besides, Online application and approval systems have been introduced to make the plan more expeditious and transparent. With an investment of around Rs 3.6 lakh per borehole, the beneficiaries of the general category are contributing Rs 20,000 and the beneficiaries of Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes are contributing Rs 10,000
