Bhubaneswar: Odisha government has demanded a train to be named after noted freedom fighter Buxi Jagabandhu Bidyadhar Mohapatra Bhramarbar Ray. Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik demanded this during the bi-centennial celebrations of Paika Bidroha.
Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik reminisced the history of freedom struggle in Odisha and the role of fortresses like Khordha & freedom fighters like Jayi Rajguru and Buxi Jagabandhu.
Highlights from his address at the celebration:
• Raised demand for express train from Odisha; to be named after Buxi Jagabandhu.
• State Government to launch BASUDHA – Drinking Water Supply Program for Rural & Urban Areas, commemorating the Paika Bidroha bicentenary.
• In honour of Buxi Jagabandhu, program to be called Buxi Jagabandhu Urban Drinking Water Supply Program & Buxi Jagabandhu Rural Drinking Water Supply Program in urban and rural areas respectively.
• In 2017-18 fiscal, ₹315 crores and ₹750 crores earmarked for urban and rural areas under BASUDHA.
Chief Minister called for cooperation of all in remembering the freedoms struggle and sacrifices of our freedom fighters; urged upon everyone to join hands for working towards the mission of an empowered Odisha.
