New Delhi: Odisha Forum urges Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik to take up immediate steps to set up Odisha Cultural Centre in the NCR. The Odisha Forum delegation led by its president Shri Gokul Pattnaik on 14th June met Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik at Odisha Bhawan.
Odisha Forum congratulated Shri Naveen Pattnaik for assuming the office of the CM for a record 5 th time . In the meeting while showing concerns about the development of the state , Odisha Forum raised two demands which CM to consider immediately. The first is setting up of a Odisha Cultural Centre in Delhi.
The Forum said there are over 18lakhs people of Odisha origin living in and around the NCR and Odisha still does not have an Odisha Cultural Centre in Delhi. Many other states like Andhra Pradesh , Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Kerala have vibrant cultural centres in Delhi . Therefore, it is very important to showcase odisha's rich heritage. So, Odisha Government should take up immediate steps to set up an Odisha Cultural Centre in the NCR.
The second concern Odisha Forum expressed is about its responsibility and contribution towards the relief , rehabilitation and reconstruction of the affected areas caused by cyclone Fani . Odisha wishes to adopt Raghurajpur, a village of artisans in Puri , which is world famous for Gotipua dance, Pattachitra
and other amazing rich handicrafts . This village is one of the worst affected areas. After doing a rapid survey of this village the Forum has prepared a detailed project report for livelihood and rejuvenation. The Forum envisages setting up of an Art Warehouse -cum- exhibition Centre to preserve the valuable
art work of the artisans from the ravages of nature. The Forum promises to raise funds for this project and requested the Government of Odisha to take up this project on priority basis. Odisha Forum reiterates it’s commitment to support the Government of Odisha for all-round socio-economic
development of Odisha. The Odisha Forum deligation compirised members like well known artist Shri Jatin Das, Ravi Pani, Abani Sahoo, Monica Das, Nivedita Giri, Snajeev Mohanty, Rashmi Ranjan Parida.
