Odisha CM urges Centre to sanction a NIFTEM in the state

Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik urged Union Minister of Food Processing Industries Smt Harsimrat Kaur Badal to sanction a National Institute of Food Technology, Entrepreneurship & Management (NIFTEM) in Odisha.
Highlights of his letter to the Union Minister:
• Odisha with 10 agro-climatic zones has huge potential for food processing sector.
• State has surplus production of rice & substantial output of maize, horticulture, spices & seafood
• One Food Park at Khordha is operational with top industries like Britannia, ITC Ltd., Indo Nissin, Parle Agro & Cocal Cola India
• MITS Mega Food Park at Raygada to commence operations soon followed by Seafood Park at Deras
• Another Food Park coming up at Cuttack
Chief Minister Shri Patnaik emphasised on the need for the National Institute to give further boost to the fast growing agro-food processing sector in the state.
