Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Shri Naveen Patnaik suspended two police officers for negligence in duty in acid attack on a woman in Jagatsinghpur in 2009. He directed DGP, Odisha Police to immediately initiate disciplinary action against both.
The suspended officers had not carried out a proper investigation and closed the case prematurely. The victim had drawn attention of Chief Minister to her plight, following which the case was reopened and recently the accused was arrested along with his accomplice.
Stressing need of utmost & more sensitivity and prompt handling of cases related to crime against women and children, he sought a report from the DGP on all such cases in the state in 15 days. He directed strongest possible action to be taken against negligent police officers.
