Odisha CM Naveen Patnaik submitted his report card; reviewed the implementation of 2014 poll promises

 

Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik submitted his report card on the promises delivered to the people of Odisha. He said 4.5 crore people are his family members and he will continue to build New Odisha by fulfilling the commitment given to the family members.

Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Tuesday reviewed the implementation of 2014 poll promises at the Council of Ministers meeting. CM Patnaik said his party Biju Janata Dal (BJD) has fulfilled all the promises made in the 2014 election manifesto.

The CM reviewed the implementation of various welfare programmes by the government and presented some of the achievements of the ruling party in the last five years before the people of Odisha through the Council of Ministers.

Speaking about housing, the CM said, “We had committed to convert all the Kucha Houses in the rural areas into Pucca Houses. During the last five years, we have constructed more than 20 lakh pucca houses for our people.”

Highlighting the government’s achievement in creation of additional irrigational potential, the CM said, “We have created 9 lakh hectres and are in the process of creating 10 lakh hectres by May 2019. The details of the projects are given in the Water Resources Department’s Web site.”

Patnaik further said, “It is my firm belief that deserving people even if they are not in the BPL list must be covered under Food Security. Towards this objective, we are implementing our own Food Security Scheme.”

Patnaik said the state government is providing Education Loan at 1%. “Career Counseling Centres have been opened in Universities and Colleges. We have provided direct and indirect employment opportunities to the 12 lakh youths out of which 1.12 lakh is in the Government sector,” he added.

Speaking about the Universal Health Coverage, the CM said, “Through Biju Swasthya Kalyan Yojana, we are providing Universal Health Coverage. Free medicines, Diagnosis and treatment from Sub-Centres to Medical Colleges. While Biju Swasthya Kalyan Yojana provides upto 5 lakhs health cover In case of women it is 7 lakhs.”

Highlighting the Social security scheme, the CM said, “We are covering 48 lakh deserving persons under our Social Security Schemes. This is one of the highest in the country as regards people covered and population.”

He said from 2015 the state government is providing loan to farmers at the rate of one percent and now in KALIA scheme the government is providing loan at the rate of zero percent.
