Odisha CM Naveen Patnaik seeking inclusion of Bhubaneswar as a stop for Colombo-Varanasi flight

Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik wrote to Union Minister for Civil Aviation Shri Pusapati Ashok Gajapathi Raju seeking inclusion of Bhubaneswar as a stop for Colombo-Varanasi flight.
He noted that Air India had recently started a flight from Colombo to Varanasi which has been useful in promoting heritage tourism and increasing tourist footfalls from Sri Lanka to India.
In the recently held International Buddhist Conclave and discussions in different fora, tour operators, academicians and revered monks from Sri Lanka have expressed a strong desire to explore Buddhist heritage sites in Odisha but are limited by the lack of direct air connectivity to the state from Sri Lanka.
