Odisha CM Naveen Patnaik sanctioned One Crore rupees for treatment of conjoined twins in AIIMS

Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has sanctioned a sum of rupees One Crore for the treatment of conjoined twins as a special case out of CMRF to be placed with Director AIIMS New Delhi according to Pratap Jena Minister Health & Family Welfare.
Mr Jena had personally visited the twins in AIIMS and discussed with treating doctors.

After returning from Delhi Mr Jena had briefed CM Naveen Patnaik and requested for sanction of funds.

Health department had taken all care in bringing the twins to DHH n SCB and sending them to AIIMS. One Officer has accompanied them to AIIMS and facilitating the treatment there as per instructions of Mr Jena.

The AIIMS has formed a 30-member team for pre-surgery assessment of the twins. After preliminary assessment, the team is convinced that a surgery is doable, sources said.

The twin’s poverty-stricken parents, small-time farmer Bhuan Kanhar (30) and Pushpanjali (25), had approached the state government for financial assistance after which the state government facilitated their transfer to AIIMS.
