Rourkela: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik inaugurated a host of projects, involving about Rs 730 crore at Rourkela on Friday. Patnaik on his one-day visit to the steel city addressed a large gathering as part of ‘KALIA Convention’ and claimed that the farmers’ interest has been a priority area of his Government. “The KALIA scheme has been a boon for the marginal farmers, mainly for the landless farmers and about 30 lakh farmers of the State are going to be benefitted in the first phase,” Patnaik said.
“Another 10 lakh farmers would be included in the second phase, besides the meritorious children of farmers would also be provided support to pursue their higher education degrees,” Patnaik told.
Patnaik inaugurated about 23 projects, involving about Rs 336.61 crore and laid foundation stone of as many as 29 different projects, with an estimated cost of Rs 309.78 crore.
