Odisha CM Naveen Patnaik inaugurated, laid foundation stones for several projects in Ganjam district

Berhampur: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik made a whirlwind tour of his home district Ganjam on Sunday and inaugurated and laid foundation stones for several developmental projects.

Patnaik’s visit was considered significant as the polls for civic bodies will be held early next year. He came from and returned to Bhubaneswar by a helicopter.

He inaugurated a newly-constructed Bhanjanagar police station building. Ten, he arrived at a BBSA mega camp at the KSUB College ground and laid foundation-stones of Government ITI Bhanjanagar, RTO office building Bhanjanagar and an RD Bridge over Kokalaba. He distributed aids and appliances to 8,000 persons with disabilities (PwDs).

Patnaik then proceeded to Hinjili, his constituency, where he paid floral tribute to his late father at Biju Patnaik Chowk.

Significantly, aids, appliances and other incentives were distribute to over 30,000 PwDs in three different places of the district in a single day.

Patnaik then arrived at the temporary helipad at the MKCG Medical College ground in Brahmapur and inaugurated a newly-built superspecialty block. He then arrived at the UCP Engineering College ground, where he distributed aids and appliances to PwDs before flying back to Bhubaneswar.

Patnaik in his addresses described his Government as pro-people working hard for welfare of the people.

Opposition Congress and BJP, on the other hand, alleged that the CM’s visit was only intended to befool people and avail media hype. They pointed out that many projects inaugurated by Patnaik in the past are yet to materialise.

Police detained 15 BJP workers when they were trying to show black flags to the Chief Minister in front of the main gate of the MKCG Medical College.
