Odisha CM Naveen Patnaik flags off ‘Pari Chariots’ to create awareness against child sexual abuse

Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik flags off ‘Pari Chariots’ to create awareness against child sexual abuse in all 30 districts till June 12.

CM flag off specially designed and decorative 15 ‘Paree Express Vans’ which would travel across the State and cover all 30 districts. While each van would cover two districts, the all converge at Bhubaneswar on June 12 for the concluding function. The campaign with an objective to spread awareness among communities, families and parents that child sexual abuse can be prevented.

The ‘Paree Express Vans would move through the most vulnerable pockets of districts under the guidance of the concerned Superintendent of Police and the district Collector.

During each halt of the van, public meetings and cultural programmes would be organised.

Elected representatives, community members, influencers, SHG groups and youth and children would be requested and motivated to attend the public meetings.

These awareness meetings would be followed by folk performances by specially trained local cultural troupes, film screenings and dialogue with the community in their dialect.

Each ‘Paree Express’, equipped with an LCD screen, would have four officers and men from the district police who would facilitate and lead the people contact drive. Leaflets and other printed materials would also be distributed followed by community interactions.

The Unicef has facilitated training to all folk artists from Zilla Kala Sanskruti Sanga (ZKSS) and Zilla Kala Sanskruti Sanga (BKSS) for the campaign. Besides, it has provided technical supports.

IG Police (HQs) Asheet Kumar Panigrahi has been appointed as the State Nodal Officer of the campaign.

The campaign would also stress on the need to report cases and would inform people about the laws and punishments for child sexual abuse.
