Odisha CM Naveen Patnaik directs RTOs to curb interference of middlemen

Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik directs Regional Transport Officers (RTOs) to curb interference of middlemen in issuance of driving licences & other vehicle-related documents at the transport offices within 15 days.

Patnaik’s directive came while he was holding a discussion with district Collectors and SPs and Regional Transport Officers through a videoconferencing at the Lok Seva Bhavan here regarding the newly-implemented MV Act.

Patnaik advised the officers to open more counters at the offices for facilitating issuance of DLs and other vehicle-related documents to the applicants.

The CM also directed for stringent action against drunken driving and reckless driving. He too laid emphasis on providing first-aid treatment to road accident victims. Road safety and traffic rule awareness plays a key role in curbing accidents, for which sensitisation drives should be conducted at schools, colleges and roads, he said.

He asked all concerned departments to work in coordination for proper implementation of the road rules.
