Odisha CM Naveen Patnaik demands express trains from Nayagarh town to Howrah, Visakhapatnam

Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik writes to Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu, demands express trains from Nayagarh town to Howrah, Visakhapatnam.

Patnaik also demanded expediting of the pending railway projects and a daily Bhubaneswar-Mumbai train named after legendary Odia revolutionary Buxi Jagabandhu.

The CM thanked Prabhu for the new rail connectivity to Nayagarh via Bolagarh as part of the Khurda Bolangir rail line project. He requested the Minister to increase the number of trains from two passenger trains to one express train each to Howrah and Visakhapatnam.

“With the commissioning of the new line upto Nayagarh headquarters, it is now important to provide the people here connectivity to the nearest large railway hubs,” he stated.

He suggested the Bhubaneswar Howrah Garib Rath Express to be extended up to Nayagarh town and an intercity type train be introduced to give people of Nayagarh, Kandhamal, Boudh and Ganjam, access to coastal belt of the State and the hubs like Howrah and Visakapatnam.

The Chief Minister also reminded Prabhu about re-commissioning of train lines between Paralakhemundi and Kashinagar stations and the Nawapada-Gunpur railway line.
